Udupi Press Photographers association (UPPA) came into existence from 2008. UPPA is the collective thought of a competitive group of professional photojournalists, who capture the very moments of the past and present, for the future. The Association is a platform for all journalistic lens-men who work under challenging circumstances with one objective of freezing the historic moments, under stringent deadlines as demanded by the editorial which assigns equally competitive assignments.

UPPA felicitated Pundalik Nayak of Ideal studio
Udupi, Aug 19: Pundalik Nayak, veteran photographer and proprietor of Ideal Studio, was honoured with the ‘Chaya Spoorthi Award’ by the Udupi Press Photographers’ Association (UPPA), here on Thursday August 19,2010 on the occasion of World Photographers’ Day.
Bhat also sought the copies of such historical pictures to be displayed at the new building of the district headquarters for public viewing.
Nayak, acknowledging the honour, said that he was happy to get an opportunity to display half-a-century-old pictures in his home town. He also conveyed best wishes to his fellow photographers in their endeavours.
Recalling his professional career, Nayak elaborated on his early struggles at a time when transport facilities were not so developed.
UPPA president Hemanath Padubidri welcomed the gathering. Secretary Janardhan Kodavoor compered the programme.
Local MLA K Raghupati Bhat, after presenting the award to Nayak, said that the state should have recognized Nayak for preserving original black and white pictures of national historical importance, but instead the UPPA has done thatBhat commended Nayak’s professional excellence in preserving the prize worthy picture clicked during the procession that was held during the immersion of the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi at the Arabian Sea in Kaup, near here.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
1. Photos submitted must be at
least 12inchesX 18 inches on the longer side.
2. Only 4 images allowed per
participant.
3. All entries in must be taken
in on 16th-17th September 2014 only.
4. The Entry fee will be ₹. 100.00
and that you have to pay at the time of registration.
5. We will be providing you a
T-shirt that you have to wear (Not a mandatory) and shoot at the time festival.
6. You are required to provide a
unique title & description for each image submitted.
7. Basic editing, including color
enhancement, the use of filters, and cropping of the Photo(s) is acceptable,
provided any such editing does not affect the authenticity and/or genuineness
of the Photo(s).
8. Advanced editing used to
create illusions, deceptions and/or manipulations, and the adding and removing
of significant elements within the frame is prohibited.
9. Submitted photos must be
original, created and/or taken by the contestant. It must not infringe the
copyright, trademark, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual
property rights of any person or entity.
10. Copyrights shall remain
vested with the creator of the image. The images will be used only for the
purposes of publicity of the Tamron Colors of Sri Krishna event. The
Photographer will be credited wherever the image is used.
11. The 36 outstanding images
will be selected for the exhibition and 1st prize winner will get a 18-270MM
Tamron lens from Tamron*. 2nd and 3rd prizewinners will
get a cash prize of ₹ 3000.00 and 2000.00 consecutively.
12. The judge’s decision will be
final and binding on all participants in respect to all matters relating to the
contest
13. The Contest, Your
Submission(s) and the Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance
with Indian laws and limited to Udupi jurisdiction

Krishna', photography contest as a part of Sri Krsihnajanmashtami celebrations
at Udupi. The moods of Sri Krishna Janmashtami-Vittlapindi will be the theme of
the contest. Contestants should register their name on the day at Udupi in
Tamron stall. Interested may send 18x12 inches color photos to Astro
Mohan, Hemadri, H. No. 1-1-99 (B) 1, B Ed college Road,

Photographers’ Association (UPPA) and Paryaya Sri Kaaniyoor matha jointly
holding a State-level photography contest titled “Tamron colors of Sri Krishna”
to mark the Udupi Sri Krishna Janmashtami Day.
The grand prize will be the
Tamron 18mm-270mm lens. The winners will receive cash prizes of Rs. 3,000
(second) and Rs. 2,000 (third). There will be five consolation prizes carrying
a certificate and a memento each, said a press release issued by the UPPA.
This time contestant should
pay Rs. 100 as a registration fees. The registered will get a free T shirt and
the cap. The salon calendar closes on September 30th and the results
would be announced on October 10th. The photographs would be displayed at Sri
Krishna Matha during Navarathri celebrations the release said.
Each participant can send a
maximum of four entries. The maximum size of color prints should be in 12x18
inch and all prints should be unmounted. Each entry should bear title, name and
address of the entrant. Unless otherwise specified, the competition committee
reserved the right to reproduce any of the entries in their catalogue or press
without any payment, it said.

UPPA World Photography celebration at Gallery Aditi Udupi
Udupi, 21 August 2014: The Aditi Art Gallery and Udupi Photographer’s Association had jointly organized the world photography day celebrations at Aditi Art Gallery in Udupi. On this occasion the photography exhibition from Udupi and Mangalore photographers was also arranged.Inaugurating the event Rajyasabha member Oscar Fernandes said that, “if an Art Gallery for the public to view and use is constructed here in Udupi, similar to the one huge Art Gallery in Delhi, I will support it”, he assured.
Durban Development and District in charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake spoke on the occasion and said that, the photographers today are very active and that too the photo journalists are alert every moment and perform their work, he said.
On this occasion senior critic A. Eshwarayya was honoured. The program was presided over by D.K. Working Journalists Association President P.B. Harish Rai. MLA Gopal Poojary, Blossom Fernandes, Astro Mohan and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Aditi Trust Managing Trustee Dr. Kiran Acharya welcomed the guests and the gathering. Janardhana Kodavoor compeered the program.
